Doc Stovall

Douglas County’s Doc Stovall and the Tumbleweed Cowboy Band are scheduled to perform from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the Booth Western Art Museum atrium in Cartersville as part of the seventh annual Southeastern Cowboy Gathering. Activities continue through Sunday.

Union Station

Union Station Mall (formerly Shannon Mall), at 1000 Shannon South Park in Union City, plans a videotaping of the Lifetime Television show “Drop Dead Diva” at 10 a.m. today, March 10; a town hall meeting with state Sen. Donzella James, who represents part of Douglas County, at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 11; and the Atlanta Multi-Cultural Book Festival starting at 10 a.m. April 9 through 11.

Church speakers

Christ Abundant Life Christian Ministries, 8388 Cherokee Blvd. in Douglasville, is holding its 11th year church celebration this month, with guest speakers Pastor Malcolm Lewis of Mableton at 10 a.m. Sunday, March 14; Pastor Delbert Watkins of Douglasville on March 21; and Pastor Moses Swanson of Douglasville on March 28.

Car wash

The Leadership Douglas Class of 2010 is raising money for its community project to benefit the S.H.A.R.E. House, which provides emergency for battered women. From through March 21, receive $2 off the regular $12 Platinum Plus Car wash at Autobuff’s express 3-minute, $3 Car Wash on Douglas Boulevard across from Lowe’s by entering Special Promotion Code 1234. Then $3 from every car wash goes toward the class’s playground project at the S.H.A.R.E. House.

Amusement park

Six Flags Over Georgia in Austell is now open on weekends and will be open every day during spring break, April 2 through April 11. Six Flags has added Looney Tunes Dance-Off and Dick Clark’s Face The Music interactive game show for 2010. Season passes are selling for $49.99 for a limited time, just $5 more than a one-day ticket. The park opens for daily operation on May 21.

Dresses wanted

CASA is collecting prom dresses for students in Douglas County. If you have a nice formal outfit and want to donate it, prom dresses may be delivered to Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist Church, 4283 Chapel Hill Road, at 6 p.m. March 15 during the foster parents’ meeting.

Summer jobs

Teens can register for the Summer Jobs Program at

www.georgiateenwork.org until April 16. The program runs from June 1 through July 31.

Circle of Friends

The Circle of Friends III, open to widowed women, will hold an organizational meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Hightower’s Memorial Chapel Family Care Center, 7034 West Broad St.
