As Cartersville edges closer to a possible state playoff berth, senior Ty’Quan Glaze has emerged as one of the ’Canes leading shooters on the floor.

The 6-foot shooting guard is one of Cartersville’s main offensive cogs this season, head coach Dennis Godfrey said, and one of the reasons the ’Canes are second in subregion 6B-AAA.

“He shoots the three well, he drives well, he shoots the mid-range jumper,” he said. “He is capable of getting 20 to 25 points a game for us and having that big shooting night from the perimeter that we need.”

Godfrey added that Glaze as an all-around floor presence that is a great asset for the ’Canes. “He plays defense well, he sees the floor and moves the ball well,” he said. “His biggest asset is shooting the basketball. He has to have a good night shooting. If he has a good night shooting, we have a good chance of winning.”

Glaze said Cartersville is really coming together lately and is playing with continuity, something it will need to do to remain successful. “We have been playing hard and are trying to work together as a team,” he said. “We are looking forward finishing the season out strong in our region and winning these last couple region games.”

The senior added that he came into this season hoping to help make the ’Canes a competitive force in region.

“I wanted to play well as a team and also finish out the year strongly in my senior season,” he said. “We are going to come out hard here every night.”
